Put it back up. In past few days I have been finding these disturbing things on the street of Akihabara. I have nothing against Akihabara but these things are just too much. Will look more closely into what has really been happening in this city, and what’s behind these businesses and “culture”. But again, my intention is not to just point out problems or criticize Japan. I’d love Japan to stay a beautiful country inside and out. Appreciate all your comments, very helpful!

We have these in the USA, i cant speak for your state, but here in southern California, they have these magazines for free, there are usually next the new paper stand, were you pay a quarter for a news paper.
The water business in Japan is old indeed. In the U.S. we actually refer to it as the world’s oldest profession. A natural desire has been perverted yet again. Sin is most always presented by the Enemy as a sumptuous banquet with no consequences but this is never the way it turns out down the road. These girls are most certainly going to get hurt whether they admit it later on or not. “De Nial” …it’s not just a river in Egypt. Trying to tell them the truth is probably impossible though.

They put laws up but people will always find a way around it. IE: the magazine and the culture of akihabara.

Plus, they got different catagories for different girls. Wow! Something need to be done about that.
Wow… the employers create lies for the workers? Everything in that book is sketchy without a doubt. I don’t know why those guys would want to have their faces shown in that book. It’s like they’re saying that they endorse such activity wholeheartedly. And the cute pictures don’t make things any better… if anything, it’ll attract even younger girls into this line of work. I thinks it’s all pitiful.
My impressions between Australia and Japan when I was on holiday in Japan was that sexual businesses were much more common. But then maybe because there are more people in Japan? I think it is easier to access because as a foreigner even I understood what was going on.. well except for one place but I found out quickly when all the girls were wearing bikinis inside lol

I think it’s abit scary tbh. I dont realy know why. In Sweden stuff like this is more or less banned all over the country so i guess it’s becuse it seems to be so easy to acces it that… Ehm.. I really don’t know how the women that do this do it, I don’t know what happened but they obviously went through something very dramatic. I mean serving food in maid and school girl outfits is one thing but prostitution is another. Too bad money is a very powerful thing and an average person that doesn’t have much doesn’t stand much of a chance against it. I just hope they are able to escape without too much traumatizing memories. Also newly married and moms shouldn’t be in this line of work SMH

If you need to look further back look at the pan-pan girls of the occupation period, and the girls of Yoshiwara, Shinmachi, and Shimabara from the 1600s to early 1900s. The only thing different is that girls can use different, newer technology to access this solicitation than before. Like I said in another video, the laws have changed progressively to minimize prostitution throughout the years. Of course, it still exists, but not on the scale it was in the past.

Sorry but I don’t see why you think this is a new trend in Japan. Prostitution has been around in Japan FOREVER, far before “the time of Geisha” which I’m assuming you mean Edo period (1603-1868). Look at some literature from the Muromachi era (1336-1573) and even earlier, and there are detailed accounts of prostitution. “10 years ago” was the height of the enjo kosai boom, and the exact same things you talk about in your video existed then, as well as the rest of the 90s and 80s.

@ThatGuyFromYouTueb No, it doesn’t mean that they were underage. Underage prostitution isn’t advertised openly like in the book the is showing in the video. If you look at any regular Japanese club site (featuring prostitutes) many will have their eyes, noses, or mouths blurred. This is just to protect their identity, though sometimes I can’t see how it helps (like only blurring the mouth.)

I can see how girls may pick this up and it looks like an attractive profession. I don’t think you will stop prostitution but it shouldn’t be made glamorous and glossy like this!
I think the problem is not just the prostitution but as you say in one of the comments… all of the organised crime that exists around it.
It can’t lead to happiness long term and I feel sorry for anyone who finds themself trapped in that world.
